Product Description

The Lorient LAS8001 Automatic Mortice Drop Seal is a premium concealed door bottom seal designed to help reduce draught, sound leakage, smoke movement, and energy loss through the gap under hinged doors.

Installed into a machined groove at the bottom of the door, the seal automatically drops when the door closes and retracts when the door opens. This provides a clean hidden finish while maintaining smooth door operation.

This product is suitable for residential, commercial, apartment, office, internal access, acoustic, smoke, and selected fire-rated door applications where a professional bottom sealing solution is required.

For the best full-door sealing result, pair this drop seal with suitable perimeter seals around the door frame.

Machining / Installation Notes

• This product must be installed into a machined groove at the bottom of the door.
• Required groove size is 15mm wide x 35mm deep.
• The seal is fixed in place with screw-fixed stainless steel end plates.
• Lengths can be cut back within the manufacturer’s permitted cut-back limits.
• Do not cut shorter than the listed minimum cut-back size, as this may affect the normal operation of the internal automatic mechanism.
• Measure the actual door width, door clearance, floor level, and threshold condition before cutting or installing.
• The seal should be installed so it drops evenly onto the floor or threshold when the door is closed.
• For larger or uneven gaps, a suitable threshold plate may be required.
• Professional installation is recommended, especially for finished doors, solid core doors, acoustic doors, smoke-rated doors, or fire-rated door assemblies.

Important Notes

• This product seals the bottom gap under the door only.
• It does not seal gaps around the head and jambs of the door frame.
• For a better full-door sealing result, use together with suitable perimeter seals around the frame.
• Actual acoustic, smoke, draught, and thermal performance depends on the full door assembly, door core, frame condition, floor level, threshold, and installation quality.
• Hollow core doors will still have limited acoustic performance compared with solid core doors.
• For fire-rated, smoke-rated, acoustic-rated, or compliance-based doors, always confirm that the selected size, door assembly, and installation method are suitable for the project specification.
• The 1400mm length is a non-standard size. Approval or test evidence should be confirmed for compliance-based applications before use.
