Product Description

The Lorient LAS1212 Batwing Acoustic Smoke Door Seal is a premium perimeter seal designed to help reduce sound leakage and restrict the spread of medium-temperature smoke around hinged door assemblies.

Its unique Batwing curved fin design creates a flexible seal around the door frame while keeping opening and closing resistance low. The seal is discreetly positioned in the frame rebate, making it a clean and practical upgrade for residential, commercial, office, apartment, and internal access door applications.

This seal is suitable for the head and jambs of single or double hinged doors. For best acoustic and draught sealing performance, it is recommended to use this product together with a suitable automatic drop seal at the bottom of the door.

Installation Notes

• Install into the door frame rebate, not directly on the exposed face of the door leaf.
• The frame surface must be clean, dry, smooth, and free from dust, oil, or loose paint before installation.
• Check door clearance before installation. This seal is designed for a 2mm to 3mm gap.
• Do not install where the door edge will scrape or tear the fins during operation.
• For newly painted frames, allow the paint to fully cure before applying the seal.
• Cut lengths to suit the actual door frame size.

Important Notes

• This product seals the top and side gaps of the door frame only.
• It does not seal the bottom gap under the door.
• For better acoustic, draught, and thermal performance, pair this product with an automatic drop seal such as Lorient LAS8001 or LAS8009.
• Performance depends on the door type, frame condition, installation quality, and the complete door assembly.
• A hollow core door will still have limited sound insulation compared with a solid core door.

• Backed by a 24-month Lorient / ASSA ABLOY NZ warranty against material defects, subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms and conditions.
• Warranty does not cover incorrect installation, misuse, normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage, or failure caused by unsuitable surfaces or door/frame conditions.
• For best performance, the seal must be installed on a clean, dry, sound surface and checked periodically as part of normal door maintenance.
